Marc Lemmons & Stephen Storm, EPRI As coal-fired power plants adapt to increasingly dynamic grid demands and variable fuel qualities, the challenges associated with combustion and boiler reliability have become more complex and critical. This 3-hour technical workshop, hosted by EPRI for the Coal Users Group, is designed to equip plant engineers, operators, and technical staff with foundational and applied knowledge to better manage combustion processes and mitigate boiler damage in flexible operating environments. To reinforce these concepts, EPRI will present Case Studies that illustrate real-world examples of boiler damage linked to combustion and operational flexibility. These studies will highlight lessons learned and best practices for prevention and mitigation. The workshop concludes with a Roundtable Discussion, offering participants an opportunity to share experiences, ask questions, and engage in collaborative problem-solving with EPRI experts and industry peers. |
